ANYONE INTERESTED IN BEING ON TV? (PAID) Jun. 29th, 2006 @ 04:30 pm
Looking for a hostess for my new television series premiering in October, thought I'd put a quick shout out on good ol' livejournal as well.

You need to be comfortable in front of the camera and able to conduct interviews and approach strangers.

Female. (living in or around TORONTO, ONT.)

And be alright with getting into conventions for free and other neat little perks. =)

This is a PAID position.

The show focuses on eastern pop cultural influence in canada from anime to gadgets, horror movies, cosplayers, martial arts, candy, fashion, etc.

There will be much room for your creative input as well!!!

If you are interested or want more details please write me back or email me directly at:

Help get The Pillow's in Toronto Jan. 22nd, 2005 @ 05:35 pm
x-posted on momascene* blog

Over on the J-pop T.O. forum Kenshin gives the heads up on plans for The Pillow's U.S. tour. They are currently taking recommendations on venues.

So, what can we do? Go respond to their little questionnaire, and convince them to come to Toronto.

A new forum Jan. 15th, 2005 @ 10:54 pm
I've always thought this community would work better with a BBS format. And this is also one more step to creating a web community.

So, take a trip to The Official J-pop T.O. Forum.

Sign up, tell your friends!

Some info on Guitar Wolf and Shonen Knife in Toronto on there too, if that's your thing.

» Johnny Yip to perform in Toronto
x-posted on momascene*

No, this isn't J-pop, but it is Asian music, and I say it's close enough to this community.

So, I just heard that HK pop singer Johnny Yip will be performing in Toronto sometime in the near future to support the charity efforts for the tsunami victims in South Asia.

I do admit that I have no idea who Johnny Yip is, heh. Anybody know if he is a big star?

Happy New Years, by the way, unless you're waiting for February.

So, I was thinking about how I could go about making a website for this community. I will take all opinions you have.

Content ideas:

- Shopping guide (finding non-pirated CD's/DVD's and Japanese magazines)
+ Lists of CD's that retailers have in stock (and have been known to stock)

- News on screenings of Japanese movies

If you have yet to check out www.momascene.com yet, I would recommend it. I recently converted it into a blog of its own, which is why I haven't really updated much here. I focus on all North American related things over there, but I'm always keeping my eyes open for Toronto related things (however rare).

So, yes, that is my project these days.
